We are incredibly lucky to have the River Spey right on our door step. A beautiful location for our beer garden and for our guests to wake up to each morning, or to enjoy a walk during their stay.
This is also Aviemore’s access point to the River Spey, for all types of river users, be they paddle boarders, swimmers, ramblers, anglers, mountain bikers, canoers, kayakers, or whoever.
We love the fact our own offering can support these groups, by protecting and promoting access, guaranteeing the rights as laid out in the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
During the spring and summer months (that means just before Easter until the middle of September), vehicular access here will be limited to our new loading / unloading area.
This is a space comfortably large enough for a minibus plus canoe trailer to park and unload, with a 30 minute (give or take) time limit per stop off. This is there for anyone to pick up / drop off and allow traffic to flow past easily. Please note, reversing either in, or out, will be required.
As pedestrians also access the riverside area, we ask all drivers to be mindful of this and show due care when manoeuvring. We are taking steps to ensure there is clearly marked and adequately spaced for both vehicles and pedestrians.
During the autumn and spring there are no parking restrictions in this space and our beer garden will close. During that time, customers and river users are welcome to park here, but must do so at their own risk, considering the risk of rising river levels, which is always worse in the winter months.
Thank you to CNPA and those within our community, for their dialogue and support in creating this special riverside space.
