Summer Solstice Party, with SambaYaBamba and Karawane

Celebrating the longest day, with a solid dose of dancing. It's been a long time in the making and a bit of a musical bucket list moment for team OBI, but finally we welcome SambaYaBamba to rock your world. Here's what they say.....

Pure, organic, dance music - powerful and irresistible. SambaYaBamba is a musical tour-de-force hailing from the sundrenched streets of tropical Glasgow. A 30-odd-piece drumming bateria and brass section rooted in the musical traditions of the Brazilian carnaval yet at the same time, very much tailored to a the Glasgow crowd. They are equally at home on a huge stage, in a street parade or in a basement club. Their set twists and turns from full scale samba to drum and bass and beyond with a tightness and commitment to the rhythm that is a joy to behold. Local legends and loved across the samba scene.

Karawane (pronounced kara-va-neh) are two global music DJs and producers, focused on bringing people together through the bonds of rhythm and sound. Celebrating music without borders, they have been instrumental in bringing new energy to the scene in the Scottish Highlands via their residencies, touring parties, radio shows, live streams, festival performances, and their "Karawane takeover" live music events, which add live djembe, cajon, Latin percussion, bands, dancers, vocalists and big visuals to the mix.

Growing up playing roots reggae sound systems, funk and soul nights and hip hop clubs in Scotland, Karawane have a solid background in underground music culture, and their 20 years living and working abroad and collecting music from around the world has added a new dimension to their dancefloor. Expect floor-shaking afrobeat, hip-swaying salsa, dancefloor funk to brassy ska, tropical cumbia and Caribbean island sounds to Balkan and Maghreb flavors and all the brassy bits in the middle. Karawane nights are an opportunity to take a shared journey and to cut loose with friends old and new.

Resident DJs at Eden Court's Under Canvas, and Kings in Dundee, regulars at YAAM in Berlin and the Hoguera Del Ritmo parties in Barcelona, stage curators at Belladrum and other Scottish festivals, Karawane are about connecting, and platforming a diverse range of artists in new and interesting collaborations.  Bringing Messenger Sound System to Lochinver Village Hall, or DJ Metralleta and the Comando Party from Barcelona to the woods of Nethy Bridge, Psychedelic Cumbia with Los Chichanos in the heart of Inverness, or supporting the Glasgow Africa Balafon Orchestra on the Isle of Skye;  It's all about the experience of beautiful music Good people, good times.

Signed to the Samedia Trax record label, they have released a steady stream of dancefloor tracks, and have plenty in the works for 2024.

Expect a deep blend of dancefloor edits and originals from Soweto to Sao Paulo, Medellin to Marakesh, New York to Nairobi, and expect to dance.
